Durban the largest city in KwaZulu Natal (KZN) has an average of 320 sunshine days per year. Temperatures range from 16C (61F) to 25C (79F) in the winter months of June, July and August and 23C (73F) to 33C (91F) in the summer months of December, January and February. January and February are generally the hottest months with the most rainfall. Autumn (March, April and May) is spectacular and calm and Spring (September, October and November) is moderate with some wind.

As we move further north towards the wetlands, the climate becomes more sub-tropical with a hot and humid summer and a stunningly calm and mild winter.

In the west towards the Great Escarpment temperatures drop as the altitude rises and it can snow on the higher peaks in winter.
